The Zutons
The Zutons are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 2001. The group is known for their energetic blend of indie rock and post-punk revival sound, infused with elements of jazz and funk. Originally consisting of members Dave McCabe (vocals, guitar), Boyan Chowdhury (lead guitar), Russ Pritchard (bass guitar), Sean Payne (drums), and Abi Harding (saxophone), The Zutons quickly made a name for themselves with their vibrant live performances. Their debut album, "Who Killed...... The Zutons?" released in 2004, received critical acclaim and established their place in the early 2000s British rock scene. The album included hit singles like "Pressure Point" and "You Will You Won’t," which showcased their signature mix of catchy melodies and eclectic instrumentation. The follow-up, "Tired of Hanging Around," released in 2006, further solidified their popularity, featuring the widely successful track "Valerie," later famously covered by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse. Despite lineup changes and a hiatus beginning in 2009, The Zutons have maintained a loyal fan base. The band reunited for a tour in 2019, celebrating the 15th anniversary of their debut album, and continue to be remembered as key players in the 2000s indie rock revival.
