The Coral
The Coral is an English rock band formed in 1996 in Hoylake, Merseyside. The group is known for their distinct blend of psychedelic rock, folk, country, and indie pop elements, creating a sound that's both nostalgic and uniquely their own. The original lineup consisted of James Skelly (vocals, guitar), Lee Southall (guitar), Bill Ryder-Jones (guitar), Paul Duffy (bass), Nick Power (keyboards), and Ian Skelly (drums). The Coral burst onto the UK music scene with their self-titled debut album in 2002, which was critically acclaimed and earned them a Mercury Prize nomination. Their hit single "Dreaming of You" became a defining song of the early 2000s indie rock era. The band's follow-up albums, such as "Magic and Medicine" (2003) and "The Invisible Invasion" (2005), further cemented their reputation for crafting infectious melodies with a slightly surreal edge. Over the years, The Coral has undergone some lineup changes but continues to release music that resonates with fans. Their ability to evolve while maintaining their signature sound has ensured their lasting presence in the British music landscape.
