The Bees

The Bees, also known as A Band of Bees in the United States, are a British band formed in 2000 on the Isle of Wight. The group was founded by multi-instrumentalists Paul Butler and Aaron Fletcher, who are known for their eclectic mix of genres, blending elements of rock, funk, psychedelic, reggae, and jazz into their music. Their debut album, *Sunshine Hit Me*, was released in 2002 and garnered critical acclaim, earning a nomination for the Mercury Music Prize. The album was notable for its lo-fi production and the band's skillful incorporation of diverse influences. The Bees further cemented their reputation with their sophomore album, *Free the Bees* (2004), recorded at the famed Abbey Road Studios. This album showcased a more polished sound and included the popular single "Chicken Payback." Over the years, The Bees have been celebrated for their energetic live performances and their ability to seamlessly fuse vintage sounds with modern sensibilities. Despite lineup changes and varying success in the UK charts, The Bees continue to enjoy a dedicated fanbase and are appreciated for their innovative approach to music-making.
