Sports Team

Sports Team is a British indie rock band formed in 2016, hailing from Harlesden, London. The group comprises six members: Alex Rice on lead vocals, Rob Knaggs on rhythm guitar and vocals, Henry Young on lead guitar, Oli Dewdney on bass, Ben Mack on drums, and Al Greenwood on keyboards. The band quickly garnered attention for their high-energy live performances and witty, sometimes sardonic lyrics that capture the nuances of British youth culture. Sports Team released their debut EP, "Winter Nets," in 2018, which was followed by a series of successful singles that cemented their place in the indie rock scene. Their debut album, "Deep Down Happy," released in June 2020, was met with critical acclaim, earning a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize. The album's vivid storytelling and catchy hooks resonated widely, reinforcing their reputation as one of the most promising bands of their generation. With influences ranging from British alt-rock to a modern twist on classic punk, Sports Team continues to push creative boundaries, maintaining a dynamic presence both in the studio and on stage. Their work reflects an incisive take on the idiosyncrasies of modern life, wrapped in exhilarating, anthemic tunes.
