Snow Patrol

Snow Patrol is a Northern Irish-Scottish rock band formed in 1994, known for their emotive lyrics and anthemic sound. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Gary Lightbody, bassist and keyboardist Mark McClelland, and drummer Jonny Quinn, the band began as a university project called Polar Bear at the University of Dundee. They changed their name to Snow Patrol and released their debut album, "Songs for Polarbears," in 1998, which garnered a modest following. Their breakthrough came with the 2003 album "Final Straw," featuring the hit single "Run," which propelled them to international fame. The band solidified their success with the 2006 album "Eyes Open," which included the chart-topping single "Chasing Cars." Known for its poignant resonance, "Chasing Cars" became a staple in TV dramas, launching Snow Patrol into mainstream recognition. Over the years, the band has seen several lineup changes, with Paul Wilson joining as a bassist and Johnny McDaid as a guitarist and keyboardist. Despite hiatuses and side projects, Snow Patrol has remained active, continuing to release music and tour, maintaining their status as a beloved act in the alternative rock scene. Their introspective lyrics and sweeping melodies continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
