Self Esteem

Self Esteem is the solo musical project of Rebecca Lucy Taylor, a British singer-songwriter hailing from Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Taylor first gained prominence as one half of the folk-pop duo Slow Club, where she contributed her dynamic vocal and instrumental talents. In 2017, she embarked on her solo venture as Self Esteem, a project characterized by its candid exploration of themes such as empowerment, identity, and self-reflection. Her debut album, "Compliments Please," was released in 2019 to critical acclaim, showcasing a bold shift towards a pop-oriented sound infused with sharp, introspective lyrics. Taylor's work under Self Esteem has been celebrated for its emotional honesty and the blending of eclectic musical styles, ranging from soaring pop anthems to somber, reflective ballads. With the release of her second album, "Prioritise Pleasure," in 2021, Self Esteem continued to garner widespread praise, particularly for its raw and unflinching look at topics like self-worth and societal expectations. Taylor's articulate voice, both in her songwriting and her public persona, has helped establish Self Esteem as a powerful and resonant figure in contemporary music.
