Scritti Politti is a British band that emerged from the post-punk scene in the late 1970s. Formed in Leeds in 1977, the group was initially led by Welsh musician and songwriter Green Gartside. Originally, Scritti Politti leaned towards an anarchic and experimental sound, reflective of the punk ethos of the time. Their early music, characterized by its DIY approach, began to gain attention with the release of their debut EP, "Skank Bloc Bologna," in 1978.
