Savages
Savages are an English post-punk band formed in London in 2011. The group consists of Jehnny Beth (vocals), Gemma Thompson (guitar), Ayse Hassan (bass), and Fay Milton (drums). Drawing influences from post-punk acts like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Public Image Ltd, Savages quickly gained a reputation for their intense live performances and stark, powerful sound. Their debut album, "Silence Yourself," was released in 2013 to critical acclaim, featuring dark, aggressive tracks like "She Will" and "Husbands." The album earned a nomination for the Mercury Prize, solidifying their standing in the contemporary rock scene. In 2016, they released their second album, "Adore Life," which further explored themes of love and identity, while maintaining their raw, visceral energy. Savages were praised for their fierce dedication to authenticity, often eschewing digital media and encouraging concertgoers to experience their shows with minimal distractions. Though the band went on hiatus in 2017, their influence endures, with members pursuing individual projects while leaving open the possibility of future collaborations. Savages remain a significant force in shaping post-punk revival music.
