Royal Blood

Royal Blood is a British rock duo formed in Brighton in 2011, consisting of Mike Kerr (vocals, bass guitar) and Ben Thatcher (drums). The band is known for its powerful sound, which combines elements of hard rock and blues rock, creating a remarkably full sonic experience despite being a two-piece. Their music is characterized by heavy bass riffs and energetic drumming, with Kerr using various effects and tunings to achieve a guitar-like sound with his bass. The band's self-titled debut album, released in 2014, rapidly gained acclaim and commercial success, topping the UK Albums Chart and earning them a Mercury Prize nomination. This success was followed by their sophomore effort, "How Did We Get So Dark?" in 2017, which also debuted at number one in the UK. The duo's relentless touring and dynamic live performances have solidified their reputation as one of the most exciting acts in modern rock. Royal Blood continued pushing their creative boundaries with the release of "Typhoons" in 2021, which introduced more dance-oriented elements to their sound. As of 2023, Royal Blood remains a prominent force in contemporary rock music, known for their high-energy performances and innovative sound.
