Moses Boyd

Moses Boyd is a British drummer, composer, and producer, hailed as one of the leading figures in the contemporary jazz scene. Born in South London on April 30, 1991, Boyd's passion for music emerged early, with influences ranging from jazz greats like Miles Davis and John Coltrane to modern electronic and grime sounds. He honed his craft at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, quickly gaining recognition for his dynamic drumming and innovative compositions. Boyd first gained attention as one-half of the jazz duo Binker & Moses, alongside saxophonist Binker Golding. Their collaboration produced critically acclaimed albums, cementing their status in the vibrant London jazz scene. As a solo artist, Boyd's debut album, "Dark Matter," released in 2020, was a genre-defying mix of jazz, electronic, afrobeat, and grime influences, showcasing his versatile musicianship and production skills. This work earned him a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize. Beyond his solo efforts, Boyd has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Sampha, Little Simz, and Sons of Kemet, continually pushing the boundaries of jazz and its intersection with other musical styles.
