La Roux

La Roux is an English synth-pop act that originally began as a duo formed in 2006 by singer Elly Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid. Known for their distinct fusion of electronic, synth-pop, and new wave sounds, La Roux quickly gained recognition with their self-titled debut album released in 2009. The album featured chart-topping singles like “Bulletproof” and “In for the Kill,” which not only achieved commercial success but also garnered critical acclaim, earning them a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2011. Elly Jackson, who serves as the face and voice of La Roux, is noted for her fiery red hair and androgynous style, both of which became iconic in the visual identity of the act. Following their debut success, creative differences led to Langmaid's departure, and La Roux became Jackson’s solo project. In 2014, La Roux released "Trouble in Paradise," showcasing a matured sound with influences from disco and funk, followed by "Supervision" in 2020. Throughout her career, Elly Jackson has continued to influence and innovate within the electronic music scene, blending retro-inspired beats with modern pop sensibilities.
