Keane

Keane is an English alternative rock band, formed in 1995 in Battle, East Sussex. The band originally comprised Tom Chaplin (lead vocals), Tim Rice-Oxley (piano, bass guitar), Richard Hughes (drums), and Dominic Scott (guitar), though Scott left the group in 2001. Known for their piano-driven style, Keane gained prominence with the release of their debut album, "Hopes and Fears," in 2004. The album was a commercial success, spawning hit singles such as "Somewhere Only We Know" and "Everybody's Changing," and earned them a Brit Award for Best British Album. Keane's music is characterized by emotional, introspective lyrics and lush melodies, with Rice-Oxley's piano often leading the arrangements. They followed their debut with "Under the Iron Sea" in 2006, which showcased a darker sound. Subsequent albums include "Perfect Symmetry" (2008) and "Strangeland" (2012), both of which continued to cement their status in the rock and pop scenes. Following a brief hiatus, Keane returned with "Cause and Effect" in 2019. The band's impactful sound and Chaplin’s distinctive voice have earned them a dedicated fanbase globally, making Keane one of the most recognizable British bands of the early 21st century.
