Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart

Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart is a musical project led by bassist and composer Jah Wobble, born John Wardle in London in 1958. Wobble first gained prominence in the late 1970s as the bassist for Public Image Ltd, the post-punk band fronted by former Sex Pistols singer John Lydon. In 1982, he formed Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart, blending dub, world music, and post-punk influences into a distinct and eclectic sound. The project is renowned for its fusion of diverse musical traditions, drawing from reggae, jazz, African, and Middle Eastern music, among others. The revolving lineup has included numerous talented musicians, allowing for a rich and varied sonic palette. Their 1991 album "Rising Above Bedlam" brought critical acclaim, featuring tracks like "Visions of You," which spotlighted the vocal talents of Sinéad O'Connor. The group's experiments with global sounds continued with subsequent albums such as "Take Me to God" (1994) and "Everything Is Nothing" (2016). Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart remains an influential force, celebrated for its adventurous spirit and commitment to transcending musical boundaries.
