Foals

Foals is an English indie rock band formed in Oxford in 2005. Known for their dynamic sound blending elements of indie rock, dance-punk, and math rock, the band was founded by lead vocalist and guitarist Yannis Philippakis and drummer Jack Bevan, who had previously played together in the math rock band The Edmund Fitzgerald. They were soon joined by keyboardist Edwin Congreave, guitarist Jimmy Smith, and bassist Walter Gervers, completing the initial lineup. Foals gained early recognition with their debut album, *Antidotes*, released in 2008. The album was widely praised for its energetic beats and intricate guitar work, establishing them as a mainstay in the indie music scene. Their subsequent albums, including *Total Life Forever* (2010), *Holy Fire* (2013), and *What Went Down* (2015), further solidified their reputation for delivering evocative and powerful performances. Known for their intense live shows, Foals has earned a devoted fan base around the world. Although the lineup has evolved over time, with significant departures like Gervers', the band continues to evolve, showcasing ambitious musical growth in albums such as *Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost* Part 1 and 2 (2019). Their innovative approach to rock has earned them multiple awards and nominations, confirming their status as one of the UK's leading indie bands.
