Doves
Doves are an English alternative rock band formed in 1998 in Wilmslow, Cheshire. The group consists of Jimi Goodwin (vocals, bass, guitar) and twin brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals). Before forming Doves, the members were part of an electronic dance band named Sub Sub, experiencing moderate success with the hit "Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)" in 1993. After a studio fire destroyed their equipment, the trio shifted towards a more guitar-driven sound, leading to the birth of Doves. Doves released their debut album, *Lost Souls*, in 2000 to critical acclaim, earning a nomination for the Mercury Prize. They built on that success with the release of *The Last Broadcast* in 2002, which contained the hit single "There Goes the Fear" and solidified their status in the UK music scene. The band's atmospheric sound, marked by lush melodies and introspective lyrics, continued to evolve with subsequent albums like *Some Cities* (2005) and *Kingdom of Rust* (2009). After a hiatus beginning in 2010, Doves returned with their fifth studio album, *The Universal Want*, in 2020, further showcasing their signature blend of rock and ambient textures.
