Alt-J is a British indie rock band formed in 2007 at Leeds University. The band consists of Joe Newman (vocals, guitar), Thom Sonny Green (drums), and Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards, vocals). Originally a quartet, founding member Gwil Sainsbury left the band in early 2014. Known for their unique blend of folk, rock, and electronic elements, alt-J gained attention for their experimental sound and distinctive vocal harmonies. Their debut album, *An Awesome Wave*, was released in 2012 to critical acclaim and commercial success, earning them the prestigious Mercury Prize that year. The album features popular singles like "Breezeblocks" and "Fitzpleasure," which showcased their signature blend of intricate rhythms and layered sounds. In 2014, they released their second album, *This Is All Yours*, which debuted at number one in the UK and was nominated for a Grammy. Alt-J's third studio album, *Relaxer*, came out in 2017, further exploring their eclectic musical style.
