4hero
4hero is an influential electronic music duo from London, consisting of Dego (Dennis McFarlane) and Marc Mac (Mark Clair). Formed in 1989, they played a pivotal role in the development of the jungle and drum and bass genres. Their 1991 debut album, *In Rough Territory*, laid the groundwork for their distinctive sound, blending techno, breakbeat, and soulful elements. The duo is perhaps best known for their second album, *Parallel Universe* (1995), which showcased their pioneering approach to drum and bass. They gained further acclaim with *Two Pages* (1998), an album that extended their sound into a rich tapestry of jazz, R&B, and orchestral influences. This release earned them a Mercury Prize nomination and cemented their status in electronic music history. Known for their innovative use of live instrumentation, lush arrangements, and complex rhythms, 4hero has continually evolved their sound. Beyond re-shaping drum and bass, their influence extends to nu-jazz and broken beat genres. Over the years, they've collaborated with numerous artists and have also been involved in remixing tracks for artists like Nuyorican Soul and Courtney Pine, further demonstrating their versatility and enduring impact on the music scene.
